Free samples of some of the fabulous treats baked in house!
Make sure you purchase one of their great coffees. These guys know their stuff!

A friend’s boyfriend came to my house for the first time and saw all my
paintings. “You paint?” He said, “I didn’t know you painted?”
“Ya. I’m an artist with a day job.”
“An artist?” he laughed. “Ya, I’m a scientist with a day job.”
I ate a meal with him and listened and went through a full range of emotions
when I decided to stop at flattery. His annoyance meant that I had a profession that really was exclusive and elevated.
This exhibition is the exploration of emotion. The pieces are illustrative of
the emotions one goes through when faced with conflict.

Selected Works from A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix:
Two images from A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix which was exhibited in Oakville, Ontario are now on exhibit at de Mello Palheta Specialty Coffee and Roastery in Toronto. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of these works will be donated to Mid-Toronto Community Services, an organization that supports and advocates for the elderly in central Toronto.

I paint live each year at Mid-Toronto’s annual Cocktails for the Community. It is my honour to provide a portion of the sales of her work to an organization that does great things including, rescuing a senior from an abusive care provider despite the fact that he suffered from Stockholm syndrome.

Charles, the very charming owner, and his friendly staff make a wonderful espresso. This location is without internet access, so if you’d like to sit and chat without gamma rays shooting through your body, this is the place to be. It’s open until 6pm during the week. Patisserie Sebastien sells a wide variety of tasty desserts baked in house to enjoy with a selection of beverages.

More on the arts!

I am happy to finally be able to give students and frugal folks some cost effective tips. As I mentioned in a previous blog, it helps to be a little bit nosy. I was in the library this week and overheard someone asking the librarian about free tickets to galleries being made available to those with active library cards. Guess what? It’s true!

FREE TICKETS TO GALLERIES IN THE GTA
For a limited time, one can get tickets to the museums and galleries such as the AGO, the Gardiner Museum, the Inuit Museum and the ROM http://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/museum-arts-passes/ at absolutely no charge. That’s right! It’s FREE. I hope you take advantage of this free admission for two adults and three people under eighteen years of age.

Now, here’s a great way to acquire a tumbler or a vase while satisfying your craving for something chocolatey. It’s not chocolate, it’s hazel nut spread.

A nice alternative to peanut butter. Nutella is something I can’t keep stocked in my kitchen. It lasts about a day or two. If you are so inclined to buy the smaller size, you can use the jar as a tumbler, or as seen in this photo, as a sweet little vase. Just call me Martha!

Keep well and enjoy the crisp, clean air of Fall!

Remember to visit my booth at Art Barn.

Nuit Blanche (http://www.scotiabanknuitblanche.ca/) is on Saturday. I hope that you take advantage of these two nights that fill the city of Toronto with art created by people all over the world. I’m pretty sure we borrowed this idea from France. I'm glad we decided to fill the streets with art. I will have to miss it in preparation for Art Barn mentioned above.

And save the date for the opening of
Exploring Emotion and Selected Works from A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix
At de Mello Palheta Roastery and Specialty Coffee!

Friday October 25, 2013
7:30 – 9:30
Artist Talk 8:00pm
Free treats available.

Cheers,

Simone
